Inukshuk (stone sculpture)

Based on the Eskimo Inuksuk/Inukshuk and the paintings of Ken Kirkby, an artist of the north, Gord DeVries and I developed this Inukshuk and Naturescape built it in 1998. It stands 18 feet tall and is 15 feet wide.

Inukshuk is an Inuit word that means “in the likeness of man” In the Inuit culture these figures had many purposes, not the least of which was to act as sign posts for other Inuit to help them find food, e.g. caribou migration, seal hunting, etc.
